Production Type is a Paris- and Shanghai-based custom type foundry founded in 2012 by Thomas Le Vée. After two years of solo development, he was joined in 2014 by Tao Chen, expanding the studio’s reach both geographically and culturally. The foundry specialises in global-script type design—spanning Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, and CJK scripts—with notable custom work including bespoke Latin and Chinese typefaces for the Suzhou Bay Cultural Centre. Its client base is rooted in luxury, fashion, and industry sectors.
