Plau is a Rio de Janeiro–based type and branding studio founded by Rodrigo Saiani, officially emerging in 2013 and rebranded as a full-fledged foundry by 2022. The studio specializes in typeface development, variable fonts, lettering, logotypes, custom licensing, and consulting—all aimed at making “type pop” and become as integral to daily conversation as music. Plau’s fonts are used daily by millions, appearing across high-profile clients like Rede Globo, Staples, and Valve, where their custom Motiva Sans even includes emojis designed for Steam chat. Beyond retail releases like the rounded-corner sans Plau, the studio offers workshops and develops typographic identities—such as the typographic-architectural design for LET’S Makerspace in Rio.
