PFA Typefaces is an independent digital type foundry launched in 2020 by Berlin-based graphic designer Martin Aleith as part of PFA Studios. Built on over 20 years of in-house type design, the foundry offers a curated selection of experimental display fonts. Notable releases include KyotoTW, a monospaced typeface inspired by retro game consoles and typewriters, and Pardon 4x4, a quirky design with randomized alternates that mimic erratic handwriting. While not centered on traditional client work, PFA’s typefaces are used extensively across the studio’s branding and motion design projects. What makes PFA unique is its experimental, playful approach—featuring custom-built interactive tools, open-type randomness, and designs that prioritize character and imperfection over conventional precision.
