P22 Type Foundry is a digital type foundry and letterpress printing studio based in Rochester, New York. It was established in 1994 by Richard Kegler and Carima El-Behairy. A unique aspect of P22 is its collaboration with museums and foundations to develop accurate historical typefaces. Additionally, P22 offers curated collections such as the Hamilton Wood Type Collection and Lanston Type Co., featuring both classic and contemporary designs. Its notable fonts include P22 Underground Pro, a revival of Edward Johnston’s London Underground typeface; P22 Declaration, based on the U.S. Declaration of Independence; and P22 Marcel, drawn from WWII-era handwritten letters. P22’s typefaces have been used in films like Harry Potter and Suburbicon, and by brands such as Trader Joe’s and Founders Brewing Co.
