Optimo is a Swiss type foundry founded in 1998 by Gilles Gavillet, Stéphane Delgado, and David Rust after a student project at ECAL. Based in Geneva, it is known for typefaces that balance historical insight with contemporary precision. Its catalogue includes François Rappo’s Theinhardt, a modern grotesque; Plain, noted for optical refinement and versatility; Px Grotesk, designed for digital clarity; and Maximage’s Programme, an experimental mix of calligraphy and computation. Optimo has worked with clients such as The New York Times, Vogue, Squarespace, TAG Heuer, Flodesk, Photo Elysée, and Art Basel.
