General Type Studio is a New York-based type foundry founded in 2018 by French type and graphic designer Stéphane Elbaz. The studio has released several notable typefaces, including Cambon, Pilat, Mier, and General Grotesque. Elbaz, originally from Paris, relocated to New York in 2008 and has worked with clients such as The LA Times, Yves Saint Laurent, and Vanity Fair. He has also taught Type Design at Cooper Union and Type Paris design programs.
